Fundraising, grantmaking, and volunteering—led by students

What does the Youth Advisory Council do?
Problem solvers making Broomfield better
01
Needs assessment
Each year the team assesses problems affecting the community and the resources that could solve them, through interviews, visits to local organizations, and sessions with nonprofit leaders. The assessment guides the council’s funding decisions.
02
Fund development
The YAC manages a charitable fund designated by the Foundation. Members grow the youth fund by planning and participating in fundraising efforts including events, corporate sponsorships, and more.
03
Grantmaking
With guidance from BCF staff and board, the council develops a grantmaking strategy, chooses recipients whose missions inspire and whose efforts impact Broomfield, and awards grants to those organizations.
04
Community service
The YAC regularly participates in service activities to understand the broad range of needs and services provided throughout the Broomfield area.
